Item KARI ODA Tick Borne Diseases Final Review February 1996(Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, 1996) Tatchell, R.J.; Chema, S.; Grindle, J.; Mulberry Quary, UK; Agricultural Research Foundation, Kenya; Rural Development International, Dublin, IrelandThe project was established with the goals (wider objectives) of increasing the incomes of smallholder farmers through increasing milk and meat production by reducing the costs of livestock morbidity and mortality associated with tickborne diseases - East Coast fever in particular and to strengthen research capabilities at KARl in the fields of animal health and production. This was spelt out as the broad aim of improving livestock productivity by reducing cattle mortality and production losses from East Coast fever (ECF) and other tickborne diseases (TBD) and to reduce the costs resulting from current control measures such as acaricides and dip maintenance.
