Item Stability of Malathion Dilute Dust Formulations Manufactured in Kenya(1967) Ashman, F.; Kempton, R.J.; Department of Agriculture, KenyaIn Kenya several types of insecticidal dusts have been used for the protection of grain and pulses in store (Le Pelley and Kockum, 1954, Graham and Kockum, 1961). In 1961, locally formulated 0.7 per cent malathion dust on a kaolin base and applied at a rate of 4 oz. per 200 lb. of grain (8 ppm) was introduced as a standard treatment for admixture with maize, wheat, beans, etc. This recommendation was based upon the results of investigations carried out in the laboratory and under field conditions in Kenya. More recently a 1.0 per cent malathion dust has been recommended in preference to the 0.7 per cent.Item Stability Of Malathion Dilute Dust Formulations Manufactured In Kenya(1967) Ashman, F.; Kemptont, R. J.A trial, conducted at Namulonge Cotton Research Station during the 1966/67 season, is described in which an attempt was made to control the late-season cotton pests. A blanket treatment of ten weekly applications of DDT at 1 lb. per acre per application was made with a Uganda Long Boom and then seven further applications of 2 lb. carbaryl, t lb. fenitrothion, 1 lb. DDT, t lb. endrin and 1 lb. endosulfan with T-booms were compared with plots which received no further insecticides. Carbaryl gave good control of Dysderclls spp. but none of the insecticides gave any control of Cryptophlebia leucatreta (Meyr.). None of the treatments reduced the amount of dirty or unpickable cotton.
