H.; Department of Agriculture, Kenya.Although fruit growing has been recorded as one of man's agricultural activities from the earliest times, in the Highlands of East Africa deciduous fruits were unknown before the advent of ,European settlers. Many settlers have planted fruit trees and this requires courage in a country where fruit growing has not previously been attempted. It is these pioneers who have made possible the writing of this article.
