Abstract
This site evaluation was carried out at the request of the Director, Scientific Research Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. The purpose was to assess the soils and 1and ability for upland rice production in the flat and bottomland areas of Meru District. The actual fieldwork was carried out from 28th January to 6th February, 1981. It should be stressed that resent map is a provisional one, based mainly on aerial photography interpretation, existing site evaluations and some additional fieldwork. However, report and map may be used as a guide for more detailed studies in the future.
