dc.description.abstractThe district of Ankole is situated in the south-west of the Western Province of Uganda and has a total area of 6,363 square miles. The equator passes through the nOlth of the district. The average altitude is about 5,000 feet, ranging from 3,000 feet at Lakes George and Edward to 7,000 feet in Buhwezu. It is divided into ten sazas or counties, and the relations of its chiefs with the British Government were recognized by the Ankole Agreement of 1901.en
