The Medical Research Council of Great Britain issued a list of drugs for the guidance of those concerned with the compilation of formularies and those responsible for drug manufacture and distribution. The Council's main object was to examine the lists of the drugs which are imported into Great Britain and to recommend substitutes that can be obtained at home or within the British Empire. The Council also found that important drugs are used for purposes for which they are not essential.en
