dc.description.abstract | A gulley is a landform created by running water, eroding sharply into soil, typically on a hillside. Gullies resemble large ditches or small valleys, but vary in depth and width from less than ametre to a kilometre. When a gulley is forming, the water flow ratecan be substantial. It is this substantial flow ratethat results in a deep cutting action into the soil. Gullies usually occur in areas with excess runoff and concentration of water. They are also associated with destruction of vegetation cover. | |
