dc.description.abstractLivestock contributes to a tenth of the National Gross Domestic Product and provides half of the employment in the agricultural sector. According to available information, nearly 48% of the land used for food crop and livestock production is accounted for by dairy enterprise. In these districts, a majority of animals estimated, at 3 million contribute to approximately 80% of the total milk produced in Kenya, It is clear that the burden of maintenance of dairy animals lies most squarely in the medium and high potential areas that form approximately18% of the Kenyan land mass.en
