Abstract

Resistance to inactivation by ethyl ether is commonly regarded as a characteristic of the majority of mammalian and avian poxvirus (1, 2), exceptions being provided by myxoma (1,2) and fibroma U, 2) of the rabbit. We have recently investigated the ether sensitivity of four agents which in all probability belong to this group. These included a strain of sheep pox (SP) adapted to growth in sheep testis monolayers (4), a strain (Neethling) of virus belongings to group.
