Climatic Seasons of East Africa

Abstract

The seasons of the East African climate are controlled by the northward and southward movement or the sun. The area of greatest heating and therefore lowest pressure occurs where the sun is approximately overhead and this is known as the Heat Trough or Equatorial Trough, or occasionally a. the ITCZ (Inter-Tropical convergence Zone). The movement of this Heat Trough follows the sun. But there is naturally a lag of four to six weeks 'behind the time of the sun's axlaua elevation.
