dc.description.abstract | In Kenya several types of insecticidal dusts have been used for the protection of grain and pulses in store (Le Pelley and Kockum, 1954, Graham and Kockum, 1961). In 1961, locally formulated 0.7 per cent malathion dust on a kaolin base and applied at a rate of 4 oz. per 200 lb. of grain (8 ppm) was introduced as a standard treatment for admixture with maize, wheat, beans, etc. This recommendation was based upon the results of investigations carried out in the laboratory and under field conditions in Kenya. More recently a 1.0 per cent malathion dust has been recommended in preference to the 0.7 per cent. | en |
