Abstract
(Received for publication on 31st July, 1944) We are indebted to Mr. PJ Greenway for checking the nomenclature and for amplifying the localities given in the original draft of this contribution. He informs us that the list of poisonous species is not complete for East Africa as a whole. Compared with some parts of the world East Africa is fortunate in the relatively small losses of stock that occur from poisonous plants. Although there are a great number of species of plants which have been shown to be toxic by drenchingn experiments, but a few are known to have been responsible for actual deaths under natural conditions. Many illnesses which at one time were attributed to plant poisoning, are now recognized to be caused by definite diseases and fewer suspected cases of plant poisoning are brought to the notice of the Kenya Veterinary Department now than was the case fifteen years ag
