Abstract

I do not propose to describe in detail all the promising species of Agave but only to indicate the outstanding characters of the more advanced material in our collection. Where figures are given they merely indicate trends in development, not absolute values, as environment has a considerable modifying effect. At the present time there is insufficient material to laydown formal experiments to compare the development and yield of the various species. An experiment is in progress at the Sisal Experiment Station, Ngomeni,to compare Sisal, Blue Sisal, Cantala and Henequen. [2]
