The request for this study was made by Mrs. Anne Wambaa who wanted to venture into agriculture in the 125 acre farm around Isinya in Kajiado District. In answer to this, two officers from Kenya Soil Survey embarked on the investigation of the soils in August, 2001 over a period of three days. The purpose for this was to assess the suitability of the soils for the growing of wheat and barley (Triticum spp), and oil crops (castor and sunflower), under rainfed condition.en
