Abstract

Infiltration is the process by which water enters into a soil through the soil surface. This process has been studied intensively and the basic principles of soil-water flow are well understood. However, several problems arise when the theory of infiltration is applied to field conditions. Infiltration is greatly affected by conditions at the soil surface, which are influenced by several factors including cultural practices, plant cover and water content.
