Abstract

The 12th Congress of the J.U.F.R.O. was held in Oxford in July, 1956, and was followed by a choice of eight study tours in the forests of the British Isles. It was attended by 242 delegates from 42 countries. It was a great pleasure to see the U.S.A. and Canada represented in force, and also that some of the iron -curtain countries felt able to send delegates, thus showing that the foresters of the world can get together and discuss common problems and that a world-wide science such as forestry can transcend politics.
