Abstract
The effect of inoculating four provenances of Pinus caribtua var hondurensis with the mycorrhizal fungus pitinctorilU was investigated Wider nursery md field conditions. In the nursery, inoculation increased height (9-23%), biomass
(18-30%) and the mycorrhizal status of the roots.Differences in growth occurred between the four provenances from Australia, Honduras, Nicaragua and Kwale (Kenya) with the most promising being the provenance from Honduras and
Australia. After 4 years in the field, inoculated plants had performed better than their inoculated counter-parts. Inoculated. Trees were tal1er (25-30%). of greater diameter at ground
