Abstract

This article reviews on prevalence, and economic losses associated with fasciolosis in cattle, sheep and goats. It relates some of the findings in the literature on the economic impact of F hepatica and applies this to situations as they occur in Kenya where F gigantica is the main infecting species to livestock. Based on the livestock numbers, the pathology and related losses associated with faciolosis, it is estimated that a total of US$ 68,207,646 is lost annually as a result of Fasiola infection in livestock in Kenya.
