Abstract
In order to assign priorities for research on control of diseases and pests of crops efficiently, it is first necessary to establish which are the most important of these and, if possible, which are most likely to increase in importance. Essential data may be gained by making surveys of disease and pest incidence and relating this with loss of yield.
