Abstract

Observations on the causes of black beans will be recorded later in this report.For the present,suffice it to say that it was found possible to induce their formation on experimental trees at the Scott Laboratorie3.The material so obtained was compared with damage known to have been caused by Antestia linea tic ollis, whish had been allowed to feed on a branch of berries enclosed in a muslin sleeve from flowering onwards.I have to thank Dr. Le Pelley for supplying the insects and sleeves and for helping with the planning of the experiment
