The Soils of the Marche Properties Ltd Farm - Isinya, Kajiado District, August 1999

Abstract

The request for this study was made by Marche properties Ltd who wanted to venture into agriculture on a 120 acre farm around Isinya in Kajiado District. In answer to this, two officers from the Kenya Soil Survey embarked on the investigation of the soils in August, 1999 over a period of thirteen days for the purpose of assessing the suitability of the soils for the growing of Horticultural crops under irrigation. Concurrent with this, the staff of the Irrigation and Drainage Research Section (IDR) undertook the topographical surveying of the farm. The map was used as basemap on which the observation points and soils information is shown (Appendix 2). It is our sincere hope that both of these reports will provide important basic information for the development of the farm.
