Spiny lobster fishing along the Kenya Coast has been practiced for many years. The commercial catches consist of Panulirus species landed by small 'scale divers. These are shallow water operations. Deep-Walter spiny lobsters have not been exploited although occasion catches by trawlers (and :in dredges) suggest the existence of :this resource in some abundance.
