Abstract
Currently Kenya has five sugar factories, namely Ramisi, Miwani, Muhoroni, Chemelil and Mumias. Total sugar production amounted to about 164,000 tonnes in 1974. Production increased steadily during the 1950's and 1960's, but behaved somewhat erratically after 1971.
