Abstract

The year can be characterised as one of conspicuous development in nearly all branches of farming. The prosperity or the Protectorate depends mainly on its agricultural resources, agriculture being the chief, if not the only, industry of any importance. Its resources have now been developed to that extent that it seems desirable at this stage to (a) review its progress from the beginning of the past eight years, the data when the Protectorate began to be considered a practical proposition for settlement, and (b) to remark on the future possibilities and on the future development of its natural resources and potentialities, in other words to consider the Protectorate's undeveloped wealth.
