A Preliminary Investigation of the Soil Conditions of the Ithe Wa Gathoni Farm Langata (Nairobi) 1979

Abstract

This report describes the soil conditions of the Ithe-w8.-Gathoni Farm. A site Evaluation survey was carried out on 18th April, 1979 at the request of the farm owner. The soil investigation was carried out in relation to the suitability of the area for rainfed horticultural crops. The field investigations were carried out using the farm plan (at scale 1:2,500) as the base map. Thirteen auger hole observations and one profile pit were described. Each horizon in the profile pit was sampled for physical end chemical analysis at the National Agricultural Laboratories, Nairobi. A composite topsoil sample was also collected around the profile pit for fertility analysis.
