Abstract
Tabanids form a voracious and fearsome group of blood sucking flies that cause a lot of concern to livestook owners in Kordofan province. Its distribution in the Sudan was studied by Lewis (1953) and Yagi (1968) in Kordofan province. In addition to the annoyance caused by their bite tabanids are suspected to transmit mechanically animal trypanosomiasis, Anthrax, Haemorrhagic septicaemia, Anaplasmosis and several other diseases. In view of this, survey was started to investigate distribution, ecology and seasonal abundance of Tabanids species in El Rahad area, Kordofan province.
