Under local conditions, particularly during dry periods or following the use of insecticides against other pests, cotton is liable to a heavy attack of Spider Mites at present identified as belonging to the Tetranychus telarius complex. Damaging attacks by the same Mites have also occurred locally on pyrethrum. Since ad hocattempts to control an outbreak of Mites on cotton at this Unit in 1958 with Parathion failed and the entire crop was lost, the following Series of screening tests were carried out.en
