Abstract

Parts one and two of this final report have already been printed and distributed, and those who have already read these, or who have access to them, will not need to read this general background introduction. It is expected, however, that due to the different areas of research concerned by this part of the report, it will be read by certain people who have not had access to the previous reports which were mainly concerned with research into fertilizer requirements, methods of weed control, insect control and other basic agronomic requirements of the maize crop in Kenya.
