On the foot-slopes of the mountain from whichever direction a traveller approaches Kilimanjaro the roads pass through vegetation types composed of Grassland, Scattered-tree Grassland, Woodland and open to closed Bushland. In the southwestern, south and south-eastern sector of these foot-slopes the road crosses deepriver gorges which are filled with riverine forest.en
