Abstract
Most people living in Africa south of the
Sahara, have an insufficient quantity of
animal protein in their diets (Ndep. 1961).
This well-known observation is Supported by
Payne, 1963, who has shown that even with
orderly marketing, the cattle, sheep and goat
populations of Tanganyika, could only provide
some 10 per cent of the optimum daily
intake of animal protein required by
Tanganyikans.
