Abstract

Nineteen African buffalo were short in the Mara region of Kenya. Leucocytes were separated from the buffalo samples by sedimentation and centrifugation. In leucocyte smears of six buffalo, trypanosomes were detected and in two of them, high levels of phagocytosis of Trypanosoma (Nannomonas) congolense by circulating macrophages were demonstrated.
