dc.description.abstractIn recent years. cultivation of sunflower(Helianthus annauL.) has gamed importance In several pants of lndia. During the same period a number of diseases of serious proportions 'have been reported on this crop [3. 5].Of the several diseases. the leaf spot disease caused by Alternaria helianthi (Hansf.) Tubaki and Nishihira 'Occurs in an epiphytotic form in several parts of India [I]. As no detailed information is available in literature on the epidemiology of the disease, studies were undertaken in this laboratory and the results Are presented in this paper.en
