Abstract

Trypanosomiasis of man and his domestic animals constitutes one of the greatest remaining barriers to the development of the African continent. It afflicts more than four million square miles of country and, quite apart from the effects of the human disease, is the cause, by making it impossible to keep cattle in vast areas, of malnutrition on a truly formidable scale.
