Abstract
Increasing acreages of marginal land in East Africa are being brought under the plough using conventional commercially available equipment. Cultivations with high-speed disc implements on dry soil in the preparation of fine consolidated seedbeds has had a deleterious effort on soil structure, chiefly from the point of view 'Of soil and water conservation.
