2015-08-072015-08-071988http://localhost:8080/dspace/handle/0/8655In Kenya, the Larger Grain Borer (LGB), Prostephanus truncatus (Horn) (Coleoptera: Bostrychidae), was first reported from Taveta (Coast province) in 1983 (Muhihu & Kibata 1985) where it was causing extensive damage to maize and cassava. This introduction was almost certainly the result of a spread from Tanzania where it was accidentally introduced in the early 1980s (Hodges 1986). A recent survey within Kenya has shown that the insect has now spread northwards and westwards into Eastern province and threatens maize growing areas around Nairobi and in the west.
