Abstract

The battle against malaria in Africa has resulted in virtual stalemate. Bot sides are currently regrouping their forces. An account will be given of a visit to some parts of the battlefield (East Africa, Zanzibar, Pemba, Madagascar, Mauritius, S. Rhodesia, Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria) and this will be illustrated by the transparencies. Among the factors to be considered are problems of infraspecific taxonomy behavior and general ecology. These will be discussed.
