I CRISAr~ ~s..e.a:::extensivel -.b¥-CIMMYI-ZimbilP~e. The trial is designed to evaftiate new
varietie s at the last stages of the selection process, and can contain 10 to 20 or more new
vanetIes. The design combines a researcher-managed central trial called "Mother trial", containing all the new varieties, with farmer managed satellite tria!s, called "Baby trials", each
containing,a u~ique subset of the vari~tie
