Abstract

Field used to indicate the level of analysis that has been carried out on the documentary unit as well as the relationship of the documentary unit to other documents. Hence the field indicates whether the documentary unit being treated is taken out of the larger whole, i.e. processing is at the analytical level, or whether it is done taking the documentary unit as a whole, i.e. processing is at the monographic level. The relationship of the documentary unit to others can either be that it is one of a series, or that it is one whole amongst many in a collection or that it Stands alone with no relationship whatsoever with other documents.
