Auxins accumulate in root forming areas (Friedman et al., 1979) and enhance mobilization 'of assimilates (Patrick And Wareing, 1976; PhilltilJlS, 1969 andThimann, 1936). The movement 'Of metabolites is controlled by sink activity of a growing, region (Gersani, Lips and Sachs, 1980). Benjamin and Wren (1978, reported that a deve1oping organ becomes an important sink for3iSsimHates.
