Abstract
A decision on whether or not to level termite mounds can be made on economic grounds by considering a number of different variables. The most relevant are the discount rate, the size of the mounds, gross margins, and the length of time the land remains infertile. The results for a combination of variables are presented in graphical form in Fig. 2. Although the discount rate is not varied in Fig. 2, increasing the discount rate to 12 percent shifted the locus of points slightly to the left.
