Abstract

I have always thought that the poet Wordsworth was rather unfair to the angler whose primrose by the river's brim was just a primrose. To appreciate a thing you must have some interest in or knowledge of it, and most of us are limited in our capacity for interest or knowledge. No doubt the angler's wife knew all about Primula vulgaris and spent hours each Spring admiring it.
