dc.description.abstractThe Yatta plateau forms the watershed between the Athi and Tiva drainage systems. It has a total length of about 290 kIn, stretching from 01 Doinyo Sabuk ( .... hills) in NE direction to the Galana valley of Tsavo. The plateau owes its existence to a flow of course porphyritic phonolite forming a resistant capping to basement system, which it directly overlies. The plateau is found in Machakos and Kitui districts and is found in 3 administrative divisions: Yatta, Kwa Vonza and Mutomo with sub locations as shown in table 1 and the maps.en
