Since 1972 the Kenya Soil Survey has used the FAO/UNESCO legend for the Soil map of the world (1) for soil correlation purposes. Initially this system was applied for soil surveys at reconnaissance level, but presently it is also used to other scales of mapping, viz Exploratory and (Semi) detailed.
