Abstract

The Centre continued to address the twin challenges of producing disease and pest resistant potatoes and flowers for the benefit of the farming community. There were collaborative research activities between the Centre and the National Agricultural Research Laboratories (NARL)-Kabete which resulted in the introduction of techniques to produce ware potatoes in wilt-prone areas on an experimental basis. Seed plot research work in Meru and South Kinangop showed highly conclusive and positive results regarding the feasibility of the seed nursery technique in assisting farmers to grow ware potatoes in bacterial wilt prone areas.
