Abstract

More than 80% of our population depends on agriculture as a source of employment, income and food supply. Many of our industries depend on raw materials generated from the agricultural sector. Agriculture contributes more than 50% to our foreign exchange earnings. To summarise, the agricultural sector is of central importance to our economy and its progress is decisive and the basis for sustained rural development.
