Abstract

The Eastern Africa Agricultural Productivity Project (EAAPP) has its origins from the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD) which estimates that Africa must register a sustainable overall economic growth rates in excess of 6% per year over 12 years in order to achieve the Millenium Development Goal (MDG) of halving poverty by 2015. Throughout the region, agriculture has been identified as one of the key sectors that has~ significant bearing on economic growth. This calls for greater focus on improving agricultural productivity and increasing the effectiveness of technology generation and dissemination.
