The salinity tolerance of Okra (cv. Pusa sawni) was studied in pots artificially salinized, with salts of NaCI, Na2 SO1, NaHC03 and Cache at different EC levels, through irrigation. All the parameters observed, showed a decline with increasing levels of salinity. The yield in terms of fruit .number decreased sharply up to 68 percent and in terms of fruit dry weight up to 41 percent at high salinity treatment (EC 7.5-8.3 m mhos/cm). With increasing salinity total sugars and calorific values decreased considerably in fruits. A definite relationship between yield and shoot /root ratio was •observeden
