Abstract

In East Africa there are two main sources of animal protein available for pig feeding, namely separated milk and meat meal. The majority of pig farmers in Tanganyika have insufficient separated milk for this purpose and are consequently forced to rely on meat meal imported from Kenya: Now transport charges are very high, with the result that meat meal is an expensive item in the pig dietary.
