Abstract
GongrOIMlltl Iotifolium ('Utazi') is among the most important economic indigenous vegetable crops in the humid tropical area of South Eastern Nigeria (Okigbe, 1985). It is a perennial climber which grows wild and semi-wild. The edible parts are the stem and leaves which are very nutritious and have medicinal value. The leaves could be eaten raw or used as a spice/flavouring agent for soup, stew and salad (Ugbaja and Omalike, 1991).
