Abstract

In the request of the Tana River Development Authority, a site evaluation was carried out to determine the irrigation potential of the East bank of the Lower Tana River (Bura-East area’). The request was made in view of the proposal to start a major irrigation scheme in the area, as a complementary to the Bura (West) scheme of 14,000 ha, which is already in an advanced stage of planning.
